What ceiling height for a loft bed?

Among all bed models, the single wooden loft bed is a high bed, so it's essential to have enough ceiling space to install it. But which natural wooden loft bed to choose according to the room's configuration and its furniture?

To know if you can install a high bed in the room, measure the highest wall. It is advised to keep a minimum height of 60 cm between the top of the bed and the ceiling. This minimum height is essential so you can lie down and get up from your bed without difficulty. This will also allow you to raise your children's heads if needed (for breathing problems for example).

The 90x190 cm loft bed however adapts to all rooms and allows, in smaller ones, to optimize space and save room. The space gained can then be used to install furniture or a shelf. This large 2-in-1 sleeping area offers sufficient height under the platform to safely accommodate a child in standing position.

If you opt for a loft bed with desk, the height under the mattress and bed base is sufficient to sit comfortably behind a desk without being hindered. A rather practical setup since the desk placed under the bed allows you to save space in the room.

From what age can a child sleep in a loft bed?

For your child to sleep safely in their children's bed, it is recommended to wait until they are able to climb up and down from their bed by themselves. To prevent falls and incidents, our high beds are completely secured. A raised bed rail prevents the child from falling during nights, even the most restless ones.

The access ladder to the sleeping area is either straight or slightly inclined for more comfort. In all cases, the rungs are wooden and non-slip to promote better grip during climbing up and down.

Consequently, there is no minimum age for a child to sleep in a room with a high bed. Depending on your child's mobility and development, the wooden loft bed can be a suitable solution from the age of 6.
