Children's bedroom: smart furniture combining style and functionality

A child's room often lacks space. For this reason, parents must be ingenious so that the youngest have a play area, combined with a sleeping area and later also a desk area. Therefore, opting for smart furniture can make all the difference in creating a lovely, practical and functional children's room.

Opt for a smart bed

The bed occupies a central place in a child's room. It should therefore be chosen carefully, as it will also take up the most space. More than a simple child's bed, it is now possible to opt for a smart and very practical bed.

The trundle bed

The trundle bed is an excellent choice if you're looking for a clever solution for your child's room. Indeed, a 90x190 trundle bed cm is a single bed with a drawer under the bed base containing a second sleeping space in the form of a pull-out bed. When two children share the same room, or your child is used to occasionally inviting a friend for the night, the children's trundle bed is the ideal solution.

Just like for a single bed, you can opt for a 90x190 trundle bed or a 90x200 trundle bed. Preferably choose a wooden trundle bed for more durability. Moreover, you can also opt for a trundle bed model with storage like our 90x200 ALBI trundle bed with storage.

The loft bed

The loft bed is also an excellent way to opt for smart furniture for your child's room. Positioned at height, it allows for storing another piece of furniture underneath, such as a chest of drawers, a bench, or a desk for example. The child then accesses their bed using a small ladder. Just make sure you have enough ceiling height.

The storage bed

If you lack storage, the storage bed is what you need. This bed has a lift system allowing you to raise it to access all the space under the bed base. You can store winter gear, sports equipment, shoes, duvets and pillows, etc. The storage bed offers you a large storage space discreetly.

The children's bed with storage

The children's bed with storage also offers great spaces to store your child's belongings. It can be a bed with a drawer, a bed with shelves and niches all around, etc. Very practical, it also allows maximising space by using a two-in-one bed.

The triple bunk bed

You know the classic bunk bed, but do you know the triple bunk bed? It follows the same principle as a classic bunk bed and a trundle bed. In other words, a pull-out bed is hidden in the drawer underneath the bottom bunk. This is a way to have three sleeping spaces while taking up as little room as possible.

How to arrange a child's bedroom?

The bed is the central element of a child's room, and it takes up little space when well-chosen, but it's not the only way to save space in the room.

1️⃣ Position the bed well

First of all, make sure to position the bed well in the room. Prefer to place the head of the bed against a wall and if possible, not against the wall with the door or window. We usually prefer the bed facing the door with the window on one side. However, you can also have it along a wall or position it in a corner.

2️⃣ Choose storage furniture and if possible a desk

To accompany the bed, you'll need storage furniture. The chest of drawers is an excellent choice as it allows for storing all kinds of items and accessing them easily. You can complement it with a wardrobe to organise clothes even more conveniently.

💡 Moreover, keep in mind that sooner or later, your child will need a workspace in their room. This takes the form of a desk to allow for doing homework in peace, but also for drawing, playing, reading, etc.

3️⃣ Don't forget to store toys

For toys, the secret lies in providing storage to avoid being overwhelmed. Baskets, bins and toy chests are therefore essential for optimal organisation. Preferably, set up a playful storage system, for example by theme, so that your child can easily find things and can tidy up too.

4️⃣ Regularly declutter

To keep the room pleasant, remember to regularly sort through toys and clothes. This ensures that toy boxes and drawers don't overflow. Opt for a big clear-out, for example once a year, and take the opportunity to sell, donate or throw away depending on the condition of the items you're parting with.

5️⃣ Adapt the decor according to age

Finally, you can evolve the room's organisation according to your child's age (by reducing the play area to add a desk, for example), as well as the decoration. Indeed, your child won't necessarily have the same desires at different ages. When you feel they're reaching a milestone and entering the 'big kids' category, perhaps it's time to suggest some decorative changes. It's a great opportunity for them to better personalise their space and assert their tastes through their bedroom decor.

Decorative objects, wall posters, colours, everything can be changed according to your possibilities and budget.
