The bed for large sibling groups
In a small room, or for a large sibling group, the triple bunk bed is the ideal solution found by many parents. But what exactly does this type of bed look like? Who is it for? How to choose it? What are the triple bunk bed models created by Nateo Concept? We tell you everything!
What is a triple bunk bed?
The triple bunk bed is a bunk bed that has 3 sleeping spaces for an adult or a child depending on the size. This bed therefore allows one more person than a bunk bed or a double bed. The triple bunk bed is generally intended for families with a child living in a small living space or for sibling groups of three children, for example. Most often, we will opt for a wooden triple bunk bed, but there are actually many different models.
The different types of triple beds
There are several forms of triple bunk beds. First, there is the triple bunk bed like a classic bunk bed with three sleeping spaces stacked on top of each other thanks to a solid structure. The two upper sleeping spaces are accessed in the same way as in a triple bunk bed, using a small ladder. This triple stacked bed is perfect for children.
Another solution is to opt for a piece of furniture that looks like a double bunk bed. The little extra is in the drawer under the bottom sleeping space which actually hides a third sleeping space in the form of a pull-out bed. This triple bunk bed is perfect if 3 children share a room or if it's a room occupied by two children, but you want to have a third sleeping space for a friend, cousin, etc.
Finally, there are also triple bunk beds where the bottom bed is a double bed. It is overlooked by a third bed, which is a single bed, accessed by a small ladder. This type of solution is most often chosen by families with a child who have little space in their living area.
We can also mention the triple bunk bed with storage. This is a piece of furniture that includes three sleeping spaces, but is also equipped with additional small storage spaces to store books or toys, for example.
From what age can it be used?
The use of a triple bunk bed is not suitable for young children. Indeed, the presence of one or more high sleeping areas implies using a small ladder. It is therefore important that children are old enough to limit the risk of falling. It is recommended to use the triple bunk bed from 6 years old for the top bed.
How to choose it?
There are many possibilities in terms of shape and style when choosing a triple bunk bed. It is therefore important to ensure that the model is made with quality materials, equipped with a good children's mattress and compliant with current standards.
Quality materials
Opting for a triple bunk bed with quality materials is essential. Indeed, it is a piece of furniture that will be occupied daily by three people. It must therefore be sufficiently safe, solid and durable over time. Generally, it is recommended to opt for a wooden triple bunk bed. Robust and durable, wood is also warm and perfectly suited for a child's room.
To preserve everyone's well-being and opt for eco-friendly furniture, it is recommended to favour PEFC or FSC certified wood, i.e. from eco-managed forests. It is also preferable to opt for furniture with a low formaldehyde content and with water-based paint to limit the presence of volatile organic compounds.
The right mattress
With a triple bunk bed come 3 mattresses. Most often, mattresses are not sold with the furniture, so they will need to be purchased separately. Care should be taken to choose mattresses of the right size. To do this, simply refer to the sleeping size of the furniture. In addition, there are models in organic cotton or bamboo. These are natural and breathable materials, perfect for preserving sleep and well-being of the youngest. The Oeko-Tex label will also be very appreciable to opt for a product without certain harmful and polluting substances.
Standards to be respected
Finally, one can also ensure that the chosen triple bunk bed complies with current standards. The CE marking is very important. It ensures that the furniture complies with European technical legislation. In this sense, it also ensures that it complies with the NF EN 716 standard, which is the current regulation in Europe concerning children's beds. To go further, one can also favour made in France for its quality.
