5 tips to give you ideas!

When your child grows and evolves, like when starting primary school for example, it's the right time to review their decoration and let it grow with them. It's not always easy to find original ideas to give a new look to a child's room. Here are 5 tips to guide you and give you ideas!

Choose a wooden loft bed

A wooden loft bed is an excellent choice to vary from a simple child's bed and save space. A loft bed is a bed positioned at height. Similar to a bunk bed without the bottom bunk, the wooden loft bed allows access to the sleeping area via a ladder.

While it exists in its simplest version, we can also talk about a loft bed with desk. This is a wooden loft bed that includes a matching desk below the sleeping area (notably our BONDI white and wood loft bed for example). It is therefore a two-in-one piece of furniture, perfect for smaller spaces.

The 90x190 cm loft bed (a single loft bed) is a standard size bed and can therefore be used until adulthood. If you want to give your child's room a new look and save space, you can opt for a children's loft bed. It's up to you to decide what you'll install underneath (a play area, a bench, a desk, storage...)

Add a desk

A desk is the true sign of transitioning to a grown-up room. Perfect for doing homework, it's also an ideal quiet space for dreaming, drawing, watching online videos, etc. If space in the room allows, it can be interesting to install a desk (to be placed under a wooden loft bed or elsewhere in the room).

Ideally, the chosen desk should include storage so your child can organize all their belongings. Don't forget to add a comfortable office chair, as well as a desk lamp, pencil holder, or any other useful accessory to create a pleasant and practical space for daily use.

Change the room theme

If your budget allows, you can completely revise the room's theme. Indeed, your child's room decoration might still be the one you chose for their birth. As they grow up, your child develops their own tastes and preferences and might therefore want something different. According to their passions and desires, there are countless possibilities and themes to explore with their favorite heroes, preferred sport, a color, an atmosphere, etc.

To create an environment that reflects them and where they'll feel comfortable, don't hesitate to ask them questions, show them pictures, or go shopping with them. By being involved in decorating their new room, your child will be even more delighted with the result. Also consider giving new life to their old decorative elements by giving a second life to furniture for example, or by selling or donating items your child no longer wants.

However, be careful with very distinctive decorations. If you opt for decor entirely dedicated to their favorite hero and your child changes their mind in two years, you might regret the expenses and work done

Focus on DIY

DIY is a great way to decorate your child's room on a budget, and even get them actively involved. There are many online tutorials that explain how to create beautiful frames, customize a lamp or even create a painted headboard for example. Choose your project based on what you want to achieve in the room, but also on your level of crafting skills.

If it's your first time, prefer an accessible project to ensure success, especially if your child plans to participate. You can then engage in a fun and creative activity and fill rainy days with your most beautiful DIY decoration projects. This will be an experience full of laughter and fun, and the decorative items created with your child will undoubtedly be their favorites.

A brand new play area

With new decoration, the play area might also need to evolve. First step: sort out what's no longer used or age-appropriate for your child to clear space and regain room. Then, you can create a demarcation of this play space by installing a rug, as well as cushions for comfortable seating.

Various storage solutions will also be necessary to properly sort different types of toys. Don't hesitate to use boxes with logical sorting (building blocks with building blocks, toy cars with toy cars, etc.). Your child will take even more pleasure in tidying up.

Also consider providing your child with a small bookshelf to properly store all their books. You can add decorative items like figurines for example.

Make sure this new play area is comfortable, well-lit, and pleasant so your child feels good exploring their imagination and playing for hours!
