Discover how to choose the perfect mid-height bed for your child.

The mid-height children's bed is a compact model that provides comfort, storage space, and space-saving for your little ones' nights. Do you need advice on how to choose the right mid-height bed for a child's room? Here are some tips by Nateo Concept, French eco-friendly furniture brand.

Choose a mid-height children's bed according to the available space in the room

Depending on the surface and configuration of a child's room, the choice of mid-height bed will not be the same. We recommend buying a compact sleeping area with smaller dimensions if you have little available space in the room.

Do you want to save space in your little one's room? Then the high bed is the ideal sleeping solution. It will allow you to take advantage of a free zone under the bed base to arrange as you see fit (with a desk, a chest of drawers, etc). You will therefore be able to have a sleeping area and storage space on the same surface, thus a considerable space gain.

The mid-height bed will also allow you to organise better. A child's room can quickly become cluttered with toys, study materials, etc. We invite you to buy a bed with integrated storage spaces and desk. Your child will have more space in the rest of the room to live, relax and play comfortably.

To save space and be well organised, we recommend choosing from the following 2 models:

  • The classic 90x190 mid-height children's bed. This bed consists of a bed base and a mattress at height to benefit from storage space or a desk under the bed. At Nateo Concept, we offer several types of high loft beds. Solid wood beds (in pine or birch), modular, with storage to adapt to all needs. The space under the bed base will allow your child to learn, play, relax, read, etc.

  • The combined mid-height children's bed. The combined model is the must-have bed for a small child's room. It's a 3-in-1 piece of furniture with integrated sleeping area, desk, and storage. As with loft beds, you have available space under the bed base to add storage furniture, for example.

Consider your child's autonomy and age

The first thing to clarify is that there isn't necessarily a required age for installing a child in a mid-height bed at night. However, we encourage you to wait until your little one is autonomous and resourceful enough to climb up and down from their bed on their own.

So if your child is only 2 or 3 years old, but can perfectly climb to the top of a bed with agility without parental help, then they can sleep in a mid-height bed. Moreover, this is also true in the opposite direction. The key point to remember is that when choosing a mid-height bed, you need to adapt to your child's profile. Depending on their age, mobility, and development, you can decide whether or not they can sleep in this type of bed.

Choose a healthy and eco-friendly mid-height wooden bed

Most children's beds contain substances that are harmful to the health of our little loved ones. And this is also the case for most children's room furniture sold in France. That's why we advise you to be vigilant about how these pieces of furniture are designed. In other words, it's preferable to opt for an ecological and nature-friendly children's bed.

For example, at Nateo Concept, our solid wood mid-height beds are manufactured in an eco-responsible manner. This means they contain no volatile substances or harmful components. They are entirely made with ecological materials (such as solid pine or birch). Moreover, there are no solvents in the paints we use, only water.

Whether it's for our partners or in our French manufacturing plants, we make it a point of honour to reduce our environmental footprint as much as possible. The CO2 emissions related to the design of our furniture are controlled and reduced to the maximum.

Opt for a model that adapts to all styles

When choosing the design of the mid-height bed, you need to consider the style of the child's room. We recommend buying a compact model with subdued colours such as white, grey, green, etc. There are also beds in natural wood colours and white, like solid pine or solid birch, which recall Scandinavian features. These models will easily adapt to any decor, even if the room is colourful.

Moreover, opting for a simple sleeping area (like white) will prevent your children from quickly tiring of their bed. It's well known that their tastes evolve as quickly as they grow. So choose a style, like pine, that will suit all ages. For example, our HOYA solid pine mid-height bed.

With the mid-height children's bed, your child will be able to create a comfortable sleeping area all their own. They can let their imagination run wild by building a white wooden cabin bed, for example. With the free space under the bed base, they can install some cushions, curtains at the top of the bed, a desk or decoration to create a quiet corner.

With a relaxation area or a reading zone, your little one or teenager won't want to part with it. Why not even replace the ladder with a slide to get down from the bed! No more co-sleeping with parents, your child will enjoy every night in their new bed.

Choose a mid-height bed that provides comfort and safety for your child

If you opt for a model with a sleeping area placed at the top (also called a loft bed), you must be sure to buy from a safe and reliable brand. Because accidents can happen so quickly at night, the bed must comply with all French and European safety standards without exception.

On Nateo Concept mid-height beds, the wooden ladder is equipped with non-slip systems. Your child will therefore be able to climb up and down from their bed alone without risk of slipping.

More than just a reliable wooden bed, your child will need to sleep in a comfortable bed. Generally, we tend to consider high beds as uncomfortable beds with little space. But the reality is quite different. Our mid-height beds for children have a height under the roof of 74.5 cm and a space under the bed base of 78 cm. Your child will therefore sleep at night in a high sleeping area, yes, but above all spacious and comfortable.

A quality mattress and bed base for restful sleep

Did you know? Your child will spend between 9 and 12 hours sleeping or resting in their bed. For them to grow well and healthy, you need to buy the best mattresses and bed bases.

The bed base must ensure good ventilation of the mattress, so it must be of very good quality. Regarding the mattress, you must carefully select its size, density, and thickness. For good support of your child's body, it should be neither too soft nor too firm.

For your child's safety, the mattress should not be too high (so that it is always at the height of the bed rails). Also be careful not to raise their head too much with pillows to avoid back or neck problems.
