Loft bed: stylish, practical and space-saving

In a child's room, and particularly in a small room, the loft bed is more popular than ever. Practical, it allows for interesting space savings while remaining perfectly functional and adding even more style to the room. If you're looking for a clever solution for your child's room, the loft bed is the ideal piece of furniture!

What is a loft bed?

What we call a children's loft bed is a bed positioned at height. To better understand, you can visualize a bunk bed where only the top bunk is kept. Thus, the child accesses their bed via a small ladder, but all the space below the bed base is left free, allowing this space to be used differently.

Most often, we talk about wooden loft beds. Indeed, wood is the most robust and suitable material for this type of furniture. It also allows for the creation of many different styles to find the 90x190 loft bed that will best suit your child's room.

Why choose this type of bed?

The children's loft bed has many advantages, and this is why it's making its big comeback in children's rooms.

A real space saver

The primary argument for parents who decide to turn to a wooden loft bed is of course the space saving it offers. Thanks to this elevated position, it's entirely possible to use the space under the bed to install a bench, a desk, a reading corner, storage furniture, or something else. Moreover, it's entirely possible to opt for a loft bed with desk to enjoy an all-in-one piece of furniture.

If your child's room is rather small, you'll appreciate using a wooden loft bed to maximize the space in the best way possible.

A playful and comfortable piece of furniture

While the wooden loft bed appeals to parents, it is also very popular with children. Indeed, they appreciate this little cocoon created at height, like a treehouse. From up there and surrounded by a safety rail, the child feels secure. Moreover, using a single loft bed often involves using a ladder, which is also appealing to younger ones.

A safe and functional solution

Today, the standards that govern the making of a wooden loft bed are such that their use is perfectly safe. This type of furniture is thus both secure and ultra-functional to address the issue of lack of space. Parents can therefore confidently turn to a wooden loft bed for their child's room.

What age for a loft bed?

While the wooden loft bed is a perfect solution for saving space in your child's room, it can only be used from the age of 6. Indeed, before this age, the risk of falling is too high.

To limit expenses and avoid unnecessary purchases, you can opt for a convertible baby bed. This is indeed a cot that you will later transform into a 70x140 cm child's bed. These dimensions are suitable for children up to about 6 years old. This works out well, as your child can then be safely installed in a high bed.

How much weight can a loft bed support?

The weight that this type of bed can support primarily depends on the chosen furniture. You can find this information by looking at the technical specifications of the chosen piece. This type of furniture is generally designed to support the weight of a child or even an adult.

How to secure a loft bed?

For added safety, some manufacturers recommend fixing the loft bed to the wall. When this is required, the recommendation is specified in the instructions and a fixing system is provided with the furniture. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's safety recommendations carefully. Also ensure you follow the assembly instructions for your furniture properly.
