How to get baby to sleep in their bed?

Getting baby used to sleeping in their bed
When the co-sleeping period comes to an end, it's not always easy for baby to feel comfortable in their crib. Nights can become more difficult for the child... and for their parents. Fortunately, there are tricks to help everyone regain peaceful and restful nights.
💡 Objective: create a safe environment for baby to fall asleep alone peacefully
Why is the transition difficult?
The main reason is separation anxiety. A child used to co-sleeping or sleeping in the parents' room may find it difficult to feel reassured alone in their room. This often manifests as:
Crying at bedtime
Night wakings
It's normal for the transition to be a bit difficult, but it's essential for the development of baby's autonomy.
Good habits to establish
The right temperature
The room should be around 19°C.
Choose appropriate pajamas and bedding to prevent baby from being too hot or too cold.
Regular schedules
Structure the day with:
Playtime
Fixed mealtimes
Regular naps
This helps regulate baby's internal clock and facilitates falling asleep.
Encourage rituals
Rituals reassure baby:
Sing a lullaby
Offer a comfort object
Read a short story
Furnishing and decorating the baby's room
The environment in which baby will spend the night is equally important. We should therefore pay attention to the choice of furniture as well as decoration.
Why not opt for a convertible baby bed?
The convertible baby bed can be a very interesting solution, for example. The convertible baby bed is a piece of furniture for the baby's room that follows the child's development. Modular, it can be a cradle, which will transform into a crib and then into a child's bed (this is notably the case with our PALME model).
By choosing a convertible baby bed, we ensure that the child is already familiar with this piece of furniture from early childhood. This can be more reassuring for the child. The convertible baby bed can therefore be a good first step to facilitate baby's sleep.
Choosing a wooden baby bed wisely
The chosen convertible baby bed can also be a wooden baby bed. When choosing a wooden convertible baby bed, there are however some recommendations to take into account to preserve baby's well-being.
It's particularly recommended to opt for a solid wood baby bed with PEFC certification. This label ensures that the wood used comes from eco-managed forests, which is preferable for the environment. This is also true for other furniture in a wooden baby room, for example.
We will also prefer furniture with low formaldehyde materials and water-based paints. Choosing a 70x140 baby bed with this type of material helps limit the presence of volatile organic compounds in the baby's room. VOCs are known to be potentially harmful to health.
Finally, if we want to opt for a more ethical and ecological choice, we will prefer a convertible baby bed made in France.
Choosing the right mattress
Once the desired convertible baby bed has been chosen, we can add a mattress. Here too, the choice of materials will be important. There are cotton or bamboo mattresses that are more breathable and therefore healthier. We can also look for labels like Oeko-Tex or Certipur, which ensure the absence of certain chemical substances.
It's also recommended to choose a new mattress to ensure its cleanliness, as well as appropriate support to accompany baby's growth.

Opt for an environment conducive to rest
More than choosing a convertible baby bed, it's also the decoration of the baby's room that we can take care of. If parents of young children prefer white and soft colors, it's not for nothing. Certain colors tend to create a soothing atmosphere. We can therefore choose a combination of white and wood or pastel colors, for example.
For decoration and furniture, it's also often recommended to opt for natural materials. They are healthier and also of better quality.
